Folklife Demonstration Series

Weekends from July 14 - September 3

The Folklife Demonstrations

are sponsored by:

Tennessee Aquarium Plaza

10 AM to 4 PM

Featuring artists on weekends throughout the summer, the Folklife Demonstrations highlight art forms indigenous to this region. Designed to emphasize the process, rather than the product, this program celebrates distinct areas of Tennessee folklife including, domestic arts – these are expressions practiced within and around the home and include quilting, textile production, rug hooking and woodcarving; occupational arts – “tricks of the trade” found through jargon, dress and technical skills; and traditional music and instrument makers – Tennessee music consists of traditional Native American, Anglo American and African American musical forms, as well as imported forms from Europe, Asia and Latin America.
